My Colors

I decided that I would love to get my colors done, which is one of the many things that Fannella Collins does. Because I helped her create the brochure for her color business, Visible Light, I knew that she was serious about the work she does. I also knew that she had been trained much more in-depth than the "Color Me Beautiful" method.

I sat with Fannella for several hours. She looked at my skin and eyes with a lighted magnifying glass, produced a watercolor of my skin tones, and used swatches of fabric to create a palette of colors that are just right for me. The result is something way beyond the "season" categorization...this is a very customized palette. If you are in Minnesota, please consider getting your colors done by Fannella. She is on the internet at VisibleLightColor.com

During the most recent Fall Bead Retreat put on by the Upper Midwest Bead Society, I took my color palette and created this bracelet and earring set. I chose just a few of my colors, matched them in beads and now I have something that goes with many of my casual outfits. The pattern/design for the bracelet comes from Bead & Button Magazine issue #48, April 2002. It is called the " Frilly Foliage Bracelet" by Ella Johnson-Bentley. In her bracelets she uses flexible beading wire to string the larger bracelet beads, but I just used regular beading thread. I found that the beading thread stretched because of the weight of all those beads, but as I went along I tighted it all up, and it worked out just fine. I love this bracelet! It is very comfortable and comforting to wear, just feeling all those silky beads moving around my wrist and the colors look great. Because it goes with just about anything and everything, I get to wear it a lot. I made matching earrings right away too.
