My Colors Part III

my colors III

Here is another "My Colors" set. I may be done now with both of the My Colors and fringey bracelet themes, but I am not 100% sure. If you haven't yet - make sure to check out My Colors & My Colors II.

This bracelet took a lot less time because it was branch fringe instead of leaf fringe (less messing around). But I don't want you to think that it was a snap to do.

I purchased a 1 oz tube of a mix of beads from a not so local beadstore (gasp!...I usually make my own mixes). I knew that there wasn't going to be enough beads so I added a lot of my own beads too. I ended up with just enough beads to finish the bracelet and matching earrings.

Making these types of bracelets is a labor intensive thing and takes some calm focus. Whenever you have something that is full and fringy, you are always working against the fringe that is already there. It seems that existing fringe likes to pull in the free thread - almost like Charlie Brown's kite eating tree. The branch fringe (get it - branch/tree?) keeps trying to pull in the kite tail (beading thread).

This time I decided to scan the bracelet to show you a better representation of how it looks on the wrist. Here you can see the core beads, and how the fringe is like a hula skirt. I left 2 pieces toward the center so you would see how the fringe is made.

I have seen another version of branch fringe done with bugle beads. Interesting, and I can feel another bracelet coming on...
